Rwanda for the longest time has been known worlwide for the Cold and heartless events that have occured in regards to the people in the country at the time.It is now a place with a vast growing and currently has a large source of tourist attraction in this section of African region. The main attaction that has brought this about it its rich culture and the presence of the mountain gorillas in the country.I has developed its tourism market and now many tourist visit it annually and this has made the industry grow tremendously. The country is blessed with thick rain forests and mountainous or hilly landscape , which is a a habitat for creatures such as the Mountain gorillas and the chimpanzees .

Rwanda has a lot to offer in form of exciting adventure tour packages that attract plenty of tourists from all ove the globe. The adventures are some of which include trekking mountain gorillas , Rwanda wildlife safari packages , birdwatching , canopy walks and butterfly watching which is also a unique tourist activity.Of all the tourist activities that are in the regions attractions it is the gorilla safari that is the top most sought after and coveted of all in this region. It is true that gorillas are found in the bamboo-covered Viranga Volcanoes and also around the Bwindi forest which is characterised by rainforest. The forests in Rwanda are actually impenetrable and this makes them the best home for gorillas and chimpanzees.

We at African Secrets Limited are ready to take you there , we have our head office in Uganda. We organised taylor made tours and safari packages in Uganda national parks at the best offers in the industry. It should be noted that one can be in a position to organise for a two day gorilla safari to Rwanda and have enough experience with these animals. The trip can actually offer you an opportunity to see the Rwandan gorillas in the forest. It is true that gorillas in Rwanda may be found at the Parc National Des Volcans which is regarded as the Africas number one gorilla safari destination. It is located northwards of Kigali which is Rwandas capital city. In this place, one is able to see almost all types of gorillas. You can find baby gorillas and also the old species whereby they move in huge groups especially for security purposes.

Activities in the park
Day and Night game drive: The Semuliki River is the attraction for both buffalo and elephant both of which are difficult to see as is all game on a visit to the park. There is over 400 species of birds recorded in Semuliki. Birding in Semuliki is one of the main reasons to visit the park. Here you will find many West Africa forest species at the eastern extent of their range. The most spectacular of these would be 4 Hornbill species (White Crested, Red Dwarf, Black Dwarf and Wattled Casque) to be seen nowhere else in Uganda. Red Rumped Tinker Bird is also a localized endemic as is Palm Greenbul. A series of trails has been developed in the forest to provide access for birders. During the rain season these trails would be extremely wet under foot.Semliki can be made as part of a bigger safari in Uganda like the gorilla safari to bwindi national park Uganda.

Trails to the forest:
The park has established trail network one of which loops around the hot springs at Sempaya Accomodation Visitors are also welcome to arrange hikes to other parts of the forest and even multi day camping trips..A guide is mandatory for such trips. There is no road network inside the park

Accommodation:
There is a camp site being developed inside the Park at Bumaga, about 3 km. from Sempaya Gate. You will be able to spend a night in one of the two Executive bandas, hire a tent or come with your own tent for camping. The canteen at the site is reasonably stocked with both African and European food and beverages but preparation of meals shall be on order. There is also provision for one to bring and prepare his/her own food at the site. Cooking utensils shall also be available for hire, and also for car rentals in uganda you may contact African secrets ltd Uganda .

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has aligned with chiefdoms in Jonam county in Nebbi to fight poaching and bush meat trade in the district.
Poaching, according to UWA, is threatening wildlife in the Murchison Falls National Park. uganda safari
During the launch of the campaign against the vice in Pakwach town council last week, poachers handed over 15 spears, seven traps and 20 wire snares that they were using to kill wild animals. The traditional chiefs have vowed to curse the poachers who will continue with the vice.

Hophly Ongiertho, the Pakwach town council mayor, hailed the partnership between UWA and Jonam chiefdoms in fight bush meat trade, saying poaching and fishing were affecting the quality of education in Jonam.

The Police and UPDF said the partnership would improve security since poaching promotes illegal trade in guns.

Genesis Okello, the Bush Meat Free East African Network field director, said UWA had started a policy of revenue sharing with communities around game parks to discourage poaching and bush meat trade. gorilla safaris in uganda

He added that the practice had led to dwindling numbers of wild animals in the park.

Rwoth Charles Ottober of Amor in Pakwach town connected the high rate of poaching to the biting poverty in the area.

The chiefs recently formed an anti-bush meat consumption group in Jonam headed by Rwoth Ottober to fight poaching, trade and consumption of bush meat.

They pledged to work with UWA to fight the vice in Jonam. “We shall sensitize communities around the park on the benefits of conservation through promotion of cultural tourism, drama and story telling. Reformed poachers, who have denounced poaching and surrendered their weapons, will be engaged in alternative income-generating activities,” Okello said. gorilla safaris in rwanda

He said UWA under the revenue sharing program was supporting 15 groups of reformed poachers who were engaged in tree planting, goat rearing and beekeeping activities.

Okello revealed that according to research done by the US Fish and Wildlife Services, Murchison Falls Park was one of the key protected areas in Uganda greatly affected by poaching.

For Uganda, it was an opportunity to show case our general economic performance and the tourism potentials. We show cased that Uganda has a lot to offer in tourism sector that would become an engine to our economic growth and assist in reducing the levels of poverty. uganda safari adventure

It was a big world travel market that attracted various government officials, diplomats, tour companies and agents who came to see what different countries offer in terms of tourism.

The Ugandan stand at the World Tourism Market in London did not win any award, but one could not fail to notice the remarkable organization, zeal, and traffic at the double-deck stall designed with backcloths. gorilla safari tours

The eye-catcher were dancers dressed in gorilla costumes performing Runyege, Magunju, Kadodi, among other traditional dances.

The UK based traditional dance troupe entertained the over 5,000 visitors who flocked the double-deck stand designed from the backcloth. I believe this was a wonderful move and one way of selling Uganda’s cultural tourism. Let us wait to see a flow of prominent tourist personalities coming to Uganda.

Mr Edwin Muzahura, the marketing manager of the Uganda Tourism Board said; “Uganda reclaimed its identity as the home of the gorillas, on top of giving visitors a glimpse of what to find in the country.”
“Our tour operators signed deals there and then while in the past some would return without signing anything.” south africa safaris

The visitors were able to befriend the gorillas’ online, taste Ugandan coffee, and drink Uganda Waragi at the stall. Also DVDs showing life in Uganda, the last Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm) conference, hotels and tourism attractions in the country were given out.

The high morale at the Ugandan stall in London left the East African neighbours speechless, looking caught off guard as groups of tourism agents checked in and out of the stall that was graced by among others Tourism Minister Serapio Rukundo, UK High Commissioner Joan Rwabyomere and France Ambassador Ms Alice Napiok. gorilla safaris in rwanda

Importantly also was to show the world that there is much more to see in Uganda other than the gorillas. The cultural aspect of the Ugandan stand was maintained and Uganda’s cultural performance was strongly highlighted during the entire show which exited various participants.

In all aspects, Uganda offered an experience that was as varied and exciting as you wanted it to be. Uganda is truly God’s best Creation.

By Haddy.

Drawing upon our passion for travel and uncommon experiences, we have compiled what many consider an unmatched collection of expeditions for the traveler with a truly nomadic spirit.

If you think that the typical Africa countryside doesn’t offer you rolling emerald hills, snow capped mountains, misty forests and deep, crystal clear lakes then you haven’t been to Uganda. Even though Uganda is a small country, it offers all of this and a lot more – white water rafting, gorilla tracking, game viewing and some of the best trekking in Africa.gorilla trekking rwanda

Jinja, near Kampala, is a good first stop for a couple of days of relaxation. It is a quiet town with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and also, it is the home of Uganda’s white water rafting industry.

With almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species makes Uganda a superb safari territory

Uganda, of course, offers one of the travelers “must do” excursions, which is the fabulous gorilla trekking trip

Boasting three separate montane destinations topping the 4,000 metre mark, all protected within national parks, Uganda offers some of Africa’s top hiking and climbing possibilities.

Roughly one-quarter of Uganda’s surface area consists of wetlands, ranging from vast inland seas to the mysterious marshy expanse of Lake kyoga, formed by the Nile as it drains into a shallow sump at the vary centre of the country.

In most of our National Parks and Wildlife Reserves, there are magnificent trails for nature walks. If you are interested in a true African walk, Uganda is the right place for you.

Transitional to the East African savannah and the western rainforests, Uganda is Africa’s most complete bird watching destination, with more than 1,000 species recorded within an area comparable to that of Great Britain.uganda safari

A wonderful aspect of Uganda is the approach to community tourism. Wherever you go, there is a community campsite and they are often conveniently located right outside park gates. All the benefits at a fraction of the cost! In addition, you also know that you are giving something directly back to the community.

There is probably no better destination for your honeymoon than Uganda with its vast open plains, spectacular wildlife and dramatic mountains.uganda safaris

In all aspects, Uganda offers an experience that is as varied and exciting as you want it to be. What you see and experience are only limited by your imagination and sense of adventure so don’t let anything put you off discovering a place that truly is the Pearl of Africa.

Since the pre historic times, travel has been the vehicle of trade, territorial expansion, cultural assimilation, war and peace.

Travel and Tourism is the vehicle to discovery, social and economic integration and the interconnection of the world. The notion of peace through tourism is one that Uganda and indeed Africa can bear true testimony. Kenya safari tour information

We all recognize tourism as the fastest growing industry with a high potential for job creation and a relatively low capitalization requirement. Uganda is richly endowed and the task is to harness and expose its beauty to the world. This country has a lot to offer in terms of tourism; however we have continued to rely on the traditional and limited resources and markets to grow the industry. Product diversification and thecreation of new markets is a key to the growth of our tourism. safari uganda

Chimpanzee safari uganda

Statistics show that the world’s international tourist arrivals were 842 million in 2006, Africa attracted 25.6 million, this represented 4.8 percent for Africa and 3 percent for Sub Saharan Africa respectively. In terms of growth Sub-Saharan Africa (+12.6%) leads the performance so far, pulled notably by South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Swaziland and the Seychelles. The estimated value of the international tourism cake was US$683 billion in 2005, the Germans were the top spenders spent 72.7 billion the United States 69.2 billion, Britain 59.6 billion, and china 21.8 billion. In this whole business, Uganda’s contribution is negligible. uganda safaris

The question that we have been slow to answer is why in spite of all the natural resources, cultural Endowment and peace, the country has not fully utilized and benefited from the resource? rwanda safari

We need to examine this question and develop a response strategy that will improve and enhance our competitiveness on the international market. hotels in kenya

First we need to create awareness among the people to start looking at the natural and cultural endowments in their midst as a tourism resource. Most of the districts have not included tourism development in their development planning. I urge the tourism ministry spearhead the awareness campaign among the tiers of political and administrative institutions and the populace to look at tourism as a resource andharness it. gorilla trekking rwanda

We need to add value, develop and package our tourism products. Most of our important tourist resources are not easily accessible; they lack basic sanitary facilities, good guides and are in bad state of repair. The product will sell better if it is well packaged.Queen Elizabeth safari

There is need to build our domestic tourism base. The most successful destinations in the world benefit from the domestic tourism base to sustain their operations. The various cultural events in the cultural institutions can be used as a promotional tool to attract visitors to the region. I would like to interest our traditional leaders to invite all their neighbors to the cultural celebrations.gorilla trekking rwanda volcanoes safari

The need for capacity building can not be over emphasized; tourism is a professional industry that requires skilled personnel in all its spheres. Hotel operations, tour guiding, site and travel management all require professionals. gorilla safaris in bwindi

This country has a lot to offer in terms of tourism; however we have continued to rely on the traditional and limited resources and markets to grow the industry. Product diversification and the creation of new markets is a key to the growth of our tourism, promoters of the tourism industry should therefore explore new markets like in the Far East and develop new products like sports, community and agro tourism to enrich on what we traditionally offer. The tourism fraternity should start planning and marketing the product with a regional focus.Mountain gorilla tours in rwanda

The quality and range of our services provides the competitive edge. It is therefore important that as the private sector develops their products, innovativeness, professionalism and standards are paramount.

Kampala is a Cosmopolitan city in very many people’s perspectives and I can’t agree otherwise, when you visit Kampala from any side of the world you can not fail to find at least one or two things you can identify with. In the heart of Kampala are very many continental restaurants, international schools and clubs, and western like kinds of settings that one can easy identify with. Adding more meaning to this are two newly gorilla trekking uganda introduced tourism related places of the lawn and Nakumatt the oasis. Tourism cut across many aspects like Entertainment and shopping, this is why its good news for the uganda tourism industry to have these two new arrivals that are going to be of great advantages by answering our clients needs of relaxation and shopping. After a long day doing a city tour or back from a 3 days Gorilla tracking tour one love to relax in a peaceful and serene ambience that the Lawn offers. This place was opened to the public on 1st May 2009, it’s such a fascinating place that offers you the peace and quit that very few places in town can, gorilla safaris uganda. The wooden architectural work on the bar and the high- roofed dining area is also commendable. Located on Impala Avenue, this is the perfect place to talk over a cup of coffee or a drink and some good food in the evening so you do not get your precious tour memories mixed up. While at the Lawn you will feast on different continental meals including Italian, Arabian, Asian and game meat from farms not National parks, gorilla trek rwanda, this had gotten me worried in he first place but I learnt that these animals like crocodiles, Kudus, Impala and Ostriches will be farmed for consumption. From Nakumatt now one of Uganda’s biggest shopping stores for a tour or shopping one can relax the evening away at the Lawn.uganda safaris
